Meet the Producers!

Q&A with Helen Windsor-McGrail of Chronicle Crafts and Cakes

Helen is 28 years old and relocated to the Isle of Mull with her family last year. She is a creative and passionate person and enjoys reflecting that in her art.

Q: What is your produce?

A: I create all sorts of wooden crafts that I decorate using pyrography and sometimes paint. I have items such as bookmarks, keyrings, trinket boxes and cheese boards and I also design house signs on live edge wood.

Q: What is pyrography?

A: Pyrography is the art or technique of decorating materials by burning them with a heated metallic tool. It can be used on materials such as wood, paper and leather.

Q: How did you get into to creating pyrography?

A: My mum in law actually got me interested in pyrography, she is also very creative and used her pyrography kit to create pieces of art. My husband bought me a kit one birthday and I have been hooked ever since.

Q: Why do you like selling at Producer’s Markets?

A: I first experienced the markets last year around Mull and was overwhelmed by the response I got. I enjoyed chatting with other producers and getting to know their produce. I find the community spirit is strong at the markets and love to be involved in both helping the community and meeting new people.

Helen is available for commissions for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions as well as selling her produce at the markets you can source and contact her through Facebook by searching Chronicle Crafts and Cakes.
